Mitzi Soto

Honorable Chair today there has been presented a really important issue that has impacted everyone around the world. By people knowing it is not enough but there has to be an action put into place to stop all the unfairness. When the subject about War is brought violence, weapons, blood, losing love ones come into mind but the thought about children in war doesn’t cross our minds. Hundreds of children are force to be part of war all over the world without noticing. All the reason’s UNICEF was created for apply to today’s topic. In some situations the children are force to join into these violence actions in other cases they are ask to volunteer in exchange of food, clothing, and money for their families in need which not always is granted to them. In some situations the child solders are force to kill family or friends from them which leads to them having physiological and physical problems. These children’s lives are being destroyed through out the wars. Declarations have been made, signed and ratified but there is not action put into place to stop this.
Afghanistan has a hand full of problems on its back, there is the war going on, the al Qaeda and Taliban destroying the peace and there is also the child soldiers who might be the ones suffering the most. Afghanistan is suffering of lack in food, bad health care and a bad economy and is in the fight to stop the al Qaeda. The children are being use in militias, and at least 200 boys under the age of 18 are serving the Afghan National Police. Having a lack of food and money children have no other choice but to join to get these resources. Afghanistan has been punishing every individual that has children as soldiers and is still in the fight. The SAB training centre helps children that were former soldiers get out of the violence and helps them with educations and teaches them new skills that can help their family with the finances. Thousands of children each year participate in the SAB centre that has helped them start over in life with a brighter future ahead of them making them forget what has happen to them in the past.
Afghanistan would like to make more programs like the SAB centre to help reduce completely the amount of child soldiers in Afghanistan. There should be better surveillance on officers and policeman so less children get involve int this things things. The funds for these programs will come from The Children and Armed Conflict Unit, and the UNICEF. It will not be easy but with the help of other wealthy countries this can be accomplished. Donations would gladly be accepted from any country that would like to help out to end this problem to help this innocent children.
